About Rebecca

I am a researcher in Educational Psychology and Learning Sciences. I completed my undergraduate at the University of Melbourne and my master’s and doctoral studies at the University of British Columbia. Previously, I worked as a primary school teacher in Melbourne.

My research focuses on optimising student, teacher and school thriving. I conduct research in the broad areas of wellbeing, motivation, and both academic and social-emotional development, using quantitative methods. My work focuses on students and teachers, also exploring supportive teaching practices and contextual factors that foster high-quality teaching and learning. In addition, I publish research on the use of generative AI in education, examining how it is being adopted and its implications for both teaching and learning.

I have been awarded over $4m in national/international grants, and government and non-government research tenders. My publications include 140 peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters, 1 co-edited book, and 6 commissioned government reports. I regularly deliver invited and keynote presentations to schools and professional organisations, and contribute articles to practitioner-focused outlets to support evidence-informed practice.

I am ranked Top 50 in the world for the field of Education for the past five years on ScholarGPS, and Top 10 worldwide for most productive educational psychology researchers (Kubik et al., 2026).

My work has been cited in 130 different national and international policy documents, including from the OECD, UNESCO, European Commission, and governments around the world. I have 5 journal articles in the World Top 1% Most Cited and over 50 in the World Top 10% Most Cited.
